‘Voice of India’ singing contest winner Ishmeet Singh Tuesday died under mysterious circumstances by “drowning” in a swimming pool in Male, the capital of the Maldives.
The 19-year-old singer hailing from a middle-class of this industrial city of Punjab had gone to Maldives for a promotional event with the music company with which he had a contract.
Relatives at his residence here said the family was informed telephonically by the music company officials that Ishmeet died while swimming in a hotel pool in the Maldives.
Relatives, friends and admirers of the singer made a beeline to his house even as his shocked parents tried to come to terms with the untimely tragedy. A pall of gloom descended on the locality.
The singer left here Tuesday morning for Maldives from Mumbai.
Ishmeet had Nov 26 last year won the ‘Voice of India’ singing contest, pipping his closest rival Harshit from Uttar Pradesh in a keen contest. He was given the winner’s trophy by melody queen Lata Mangeshkar.
Supporters of the singer voted heavily for him from Punjab during the finals of the contest. Even though Harshit led the votes tally in most regions of the country, the final count went in Ishmeet’s favour due to heavy voting from Punjab.
“He was like a brother to me. I cannot even comment on what has happened. I cannot believe that he is no longer with us,” fellow contestant Harshit told a TV news channel.

Federal Agency Approves Use Of Generic Wellbutrin In Depression Patients
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday that a generic version of a popular name brand antidepressant is both safe and effective, despite recent consumer complaints
The federal agency reviewed the generic version of Wellbutrin manufactured by Teva after some patients reported their depression returned when they switched from the brand name drug Wellbutrin XL to the generic pharmaceutical. Some patients also complained of headaches, anxiety and other side effects.
After evaluating the reports concerning the generic version of bupropion hydrochloride extended-release 300-milligram tablets, the FDA said in its report that the generic product is "a safe and effective choice for consumers in treating depression, as it has been shown to meet all requirements for approval, including bioequivalence to the branded drug, Wellbutrin XL 300-milligram."
In a report posted online, FDA concluded the reoccurrence of depression and other side effects are typical of patients taking antidepressants.
Wellbutrin XL is owned by GlaxoSmithKline of Philadelphia, and manufactured by Biovail of Mississauga, Ontario. Budeprion XL is manufactured by Impax Laboratories of Hayward, Calif., and distributed by Teva Pharmaceuticals of North Wales, Pa.

Mumbai, July 20: Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have almost come very close to fighting physically at Katrina Kaif Birthday bash. The two leading actors of the Indian film industry not only abused each other in the eyes of the whole select gathering during the birthday party of Katrina Kaif, but were just short of throwing punches at each other.
Salman Khan who had thrown the lavish party for his heart throb Katrina Kaif, the reigning diva of the Indian filmdom was an inebriated state when Shah Rukh Khan entered the party with his wife Gauri Khan. Salman Khan had reportedly a few complaints from Shah Rukh Khan.

After their break-up in March 2002, Rai accused him of harassing her. She claimed that Khan had not been able to come to terms with their break-up and was hounding her; her parents lodged a complaint against him.
Salman was arrested in 2002 for rash and negligent driving. His car had collided into a bakery in Mumbai killing a person and injuring three others.
In the year 2006 Sallu was acused of blackbuck hunting and was sentenced 1 year in prison. He spent several days in jail later.

Winpwn 2.0: Got an original iPhone and want to unlock it, or jailbreak an iPhone 3G using the PwnageTool 2.0 but can't because you're using Windows? A solution has surfaced that's reported to be working!
The iPhone Dev Team has done a great job in releasing the PwnageTool 2.0 to unlock and jailbreak the iPhone 2G, jailbreak the iPod Touch and jailbreak the iPhone 3G loaded up with the iPhone OS 2.0... but PwnageTool 2.0 only works on Macs.
Up until now, users of Windows XP or Vista have needed to wait for the developer of WinPwn to update the software to support iPhone OS 2.0 support, but the delivery date of an upgrade is at present unknown.
However it has been discovered that the customised iPhone 2G and 3G firmware that the PwnageTool 2.0 creates can still be transferred over to Windows-using iPhone owners, and instructions have been posted online.

Another user called Kinetic-X has created a site called iunlocked.org which also goes into the details of what needs to be done to upload the customised firmware on Windows computers.

Firefox 3.0 scores higher under Sunspider’s JavaScript benchmarking tool than IE (IE 8 11648.6 ms versus Mozilla at 4281.4 ms) that only showed that Firefox was better at handling Java scripting.
Downloading of Particualr graphics and children sites like Disney Website, Nicklodeon Channel’s site showed that in both browers, IE 8 took lesser time to load the page and fast when compared to Mozilla which took almost double time . Loading the home page for Disney.com; IE took 21 seconds to load and Mozilla was 46 seconds.
In Navigating application Firefox 3 is not affective when compared to IE 8. In the business environment, performance of a browser usually has an edge over features and customizations, especially since users are usually limited by usage policy as to what they can or can’t do in a browser anyway. If performance issues consist with Firefox, it will probably not be feasible for most businesses to migrate from IE which come bundled with the OS anyway.
At last Firefox 3 has comes up with some good improvements and features (some not even available in IE) plus its enhanced malware security. Firefox will continue to singe the stranglehold IE has in the browser space. Whether it can reduce IE 8 browers remains yet to be seen.

So now all they have to do is get traffic to their site to make sales right? Cool, so they join a traffic exchange program, (To those who dont know what a traffic exchange is. Its basically, you surf 3 website and you get 1 visitor back to your site)
and they get 500 visitors everyday for a week to their site but not a single sale! C’mon, Definitely out of 3,500 people some one wants to lose weight right?
Well maybe… but what you have to understand is that the people who are in traffic exchanges are exactly the same as you, they too surf 3 sites for 1 visitor in exchange, hoping that some one will buy the perfect product that they are promoting.
So now surfing for 16 hours a day with no results has become frustrating and very tiring, plan B, pay for visitors, “10.00usd for 10,000 unique hits to your website!” Wow all i have to do is spend 10usd for 10,000 unique visitors to my website, im sure out of ten thousand random people some dude or dudette needs to lose weight right, Seriously! how many thin people can there be, out of ten thousand random people? 10,000 no way?
Then go check your stats the next day 10,000 unique hits, you think WOW, better go check my sales asap and see how much i made. So you login to your affiliate merchant account to find that the out of 10,000 people each of them left you with a unique 0! and you know why?
Because most of these companies use scripts to generate the hits. But as far as you are concerned “what the heck it was only 10usd and they did send me the visitors”, all this company needs is 100 people to buy this package each day and they make 30,000USD per month. (just in case you were wondering why they do it!)
80% give up at this point, and the very few who are determined will continue their journey. Now realizing that they have tried and failed using various methods, they decide to join a mentoring program, and within the mentoring program they will learn exactly what they need to do to make money online. So the lessons start and they immediately get smashed with information overload.

16-year-old ruled cyber fraud gang from Mumbai
AHMEDABAD: Ajay is 16 and studies in Class X. But let him loose in cyberspace and he's a millionnaire, leaving hundreds of credit card holders broke across the globe.
Ajay was picked up from Mumbai on Thursday and detained by the Gujarat police in a hacking case that left them baffled with its global spread.
This St Ann's student from Mulund has mastered the ability to hack online shopping websites channel the money paid by cyber buyers into his own account.
The racket surfaced when Ahmedabad crime branch sleuths were investigating a case of hacking of a popular online shopping site and arrested three boys in the city. They turned out to be part of Ajay’s gang.
Probe has revealed that his network spreads across Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. His mentors live in the US, Vietnam and other countries.
Ajay, the son of an employee of a textile firm, would give instructions to Wahid Khan, a resident of Kalupur, and Shahid Khan and Haadi Ghoghai of Juhapura, both in Ahmedabad, until they were arrested on Thursday. Ajay had taught them to create fake accounts and crack into others’credict account to make big bucks.
His prowess in hacking high-security and government websites let Ajay into a hacking community, which gave him access to a huge database of credit card Customer Verification Value (CVV) numbers of prominent banks across the globe.
Ajay’s tools included his laptop, a communicator and a cellphone. But, police say, Ajay’s PC has no data and he has covered his tracks.
All the evidence available is from Shahid Khan’s laptop which has folders and files that hide cracked passwords and the IP addresses of internet domains that were hacked into for fraudulent financial transactions.
Ajay got in touch with online fraudsters during gaming and was hooked fast. He has told the police that after connecting with international hackers in the US, Vietnam, and other countries, he spent over 15 hours a day on the computer trying to figure out how it worked.
“He has a database of over 4,000 international credit cardholders, their CVV numbers and expiry dates,’ said a senior crime branch official.
He fooled the cyber police by using prox settings for illegal transactions. “After making money illegally at the online shopping giant’s expense for over four months, he got in touch with Shahid Khan and Wahid Khan in Ahmedabad and let them into some secrets of the fraud,’’ said the official.

Yes, animations have been suffering a bout of mythologia—a disease that doesn’t allow the makers to think beyond pre-existing mythological stories we’ve grown up hearing. But each animation is different in content and the entertainment quotient. The last animation released was Ghatotkach, again mythology driven, but it failed in both content and form.
Dashavatar redeems itself because the story has a lot of meat and is spread across two hours with an intelligent and dexterous screenplay exploring the 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu.
The film starts in the present time with a screaming headline about two kids, Aarti and Ajay, who’ve been kidnapped for ransom. We see them running away from the kidnappers when they spot a run-down Krishna temple and bolt the door. A priest appears from nowhere and asks them to chant a mantra. Before they know it, they are transported high up in the skies to Swargalok and are about to see the 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu (Sachin Khedekar) unfold.
With them are we, the viewers, getting a ringside view of the action. The kids meet Narad (Shreyas Talpade) who Aarti identifies innocently as “aap woh jo logon mein jhagda karate hain”. They are joined by a weepy-sweepy apsara (Rupali Ganguly, high on the shrill quotient).
From then on we are introduced, one by one, to Lord Vishnu’s 10 avatars that he assumes to save the world from some calamity or the other. Take the first avatar (Matsya the fish), for instance. The story starts with lightening and dark clouds that Narad explains to be the parlay (end of the world). Vishnu takes the form of a fish that is adopted by Rishi Satyavrata. Within a day, the little fish grows into a gigantic one and then Lord Vishnu appears and instructs the awestruck Rishi to gather every species of animal and plant in seven days and to keep them in a boat. This boat is taken to safety by the fish and Bramha creates the present world.
Other Vishnu forms, too, are introduced through such immersing stories—avatars like Kurma the Turtle, The Boar, Narsimha, Vaman the Dwarf, Parshurama the Brahmin, Rama, Krishna and also Kalki (in a spiffy jacket), the avatar we glimpse but is yet to be born on Earth. Of course, in exploring these 10 forms, we’re given a thorough mythology lesson of various eras because we sweep through bits of Ramayanaand Mahabharata as well.
Now for the cut: does Dashavatar make an entertaining watch? The answer is yes. It’s fascinating to watch the various forms that Vishnu takes to save the world again and again, told in the very effective voice of Shatrughan Sinha. But the only worry is that, while we usually complain of films not having enough story to tell, this one actually may suffer a story overload.
Ten different mini-tales in one film, each packed with various characters and sub-plots does become a bit taxing especially for those not well versed in mythology. For kids especially, the film may be a bit much, content-wise. The 2D animation is alright—it’s not spellbinding but one guesses the makers chose to concentrate on the core story rather than adding additional gloss.
Music by Anand Kurhekar is fun all the way. Director Bhavik Thakore does a great job telling the various stories interlinked into one, but the star of the show is the screenplay (Bhavik and Supriya Thakore) that juggles all these stories and fits them seamlessly into one.
My only grouse is the Mohini song, an item number, if we may dare call it that, where an animated girl, batting her eyelashes, appears to distract the asuras into giving the amrut to the devas. With lyrics like ‘aankhon se pila’ and close-ups of her legs and well, her walk, this song is a bit out of place for a kiddie film. Also, the stories normally follow a revenge-and-avenge formula, so that gets cumbersome after a while.
On the whole, considering the pros and cons, the film is a decent watch; far better than the other animations off late.

Quite often, a burning issue that makes headlines also makes it onto the big screen. Summer 2007, directed by Suhail Tatari, projects the disturbing issue of farmers’ suicides. The intentions of the filmmakers should be lauded, but there's a hitch—though the film highlights the issue quite effectively (albeit in patches), it offers no solution to the crisis. Instead, it focuses on the 'awakening' of careless and carefree youth, a la Rang De Basanti.
Moreover, director Suhail Tatari seems to have been so involved in the script that he didn’t know when to apply the brakes. The long three-hour movie tries to pack in too many sub-plots at one go. There's hardly any respite in the second hour and you actually want to scream, 'Ab bas bhi karo yaar'.
In a nutshell, Summer 2007 has an engaging first half, but goes haywire in the second (marathon) hour. At best it will appeal to a tiny section of intellectuals. There's no hope otherwise!
Five medical students, representative of the urban youth of today, are brought face to face with the harsher realities of life when they land up in one of the most deprived villages of Maharashtra. Their rural posting turns into a journey of soul-searching where they are forced to confront their apathy and fears.
Before they can flee, they are sucked into the whirlpool and each of them undergo a catharsis. In the end, they have to make a choice—do they leave the mess as they had found it or do they get involved?
The film has its heart in the right place, but the scripting lets it down. The director succeeds in involving the viewer in the lives of the kids—the scenes at the medical college, their tryst with politics, their decision to spend a month in a village in Vidarbha—but problems surface in the post-interval portions. The focus shifts from lack of medical facilities in rural India to the power games of moneylenders, to the protagonist turning conscientious citizen, to a love story and, finally, to naxalites!
Tatari should've focused on the core issue and tightened the script. The editing is loose and the music is a sore point. Ideally, the film shouldn’t have had songs.
To give credit where's it's due, the cast’s performance is the film’s saving grace. Sikander is evolving into a fine actor—a complete natural who handles the most complex of scenes with remarkable ease. Gul Panag is efficient. She is one talent who hasn't got her due in Hindi films. Alekh Sangal springs a pleasant surprise—he's excellent. Arjan Bajwa enacts his part very well. In fact, he's very restrained. Uvika is photogenic and does a decent acting job.
Ashutosh Rana is in top form yet again. Why don't we see more of him these days? Vikram Gokhale never gets it wrong and he's perfect here as well. But a top-notch actor like Prashant Narayanan deserved more footage. Sachin Khedekar is competent. Shweta Menon leaves a strong impression.
Most dangerous birl in world
According to the Guinness Book of Records, the Cassowaries are the world's most dangerous birds, capable of dealing fatal blows.
They are very unpredictable, aggressive creatures, especially if wounded or cornered.
The Cassowary lives in the rain forests of Australia and New Guinea and are actually pretty shy animals if undisturbed, but if you get to close and it thinks threat you could receive a bone-breaking kick or get sliced by its dagger-like sharp claws.
During WWII, soldiers stationed in New Guinea were warned to stay away from these birds, but some of them still became victims.
The Cassowary is also one of the most difficult animals to keep in the Zoo because of the frequent injuries suffered by Zoo keepers that look after them.
This bird can take care of itself, but, unfortunately, this seem to help it very much against human cruelty and it is on the endangered species list, along with so many others

Sikander Kher not seeing Gul
Sikander Kher may not be a typical actor of the generation but definitely has the urban appeal, which many would like to vouch for. His film Woodstock Villa released and went off without a whimper but the actor is ready with another release up his sleeve.
How does it feel to have two films released?
It feels good to have films rolling out within a gap of one week.
What is the response of Woodstock Villa? And what to expect from Summer 2007, your forthcoming release?
I got a great response for my first film. I would like to thank my parents and seek their blessings for this. People have liked my performance and I am very happy for now. As for Summer 2007 is concerned, I have put in a lot of hard work and hope it does well.
Tell us about your relationship with Gul Panag?
I am not seeing Gul Panag. But it's great fun and a blast to work with her.
What’s your mothers reaction and are you planning to work with her soon?
My mother liked my work which is of prime importance to me. She is very critical and honest about my work. According to her I did a good job in Wodstock Villa. I would love to work with my parents, if I like the script and it’s a good role. There is no film with my parents at the moment.
What next for you? When do you begin shooting of your next? What kind of roles are you looking forward to?
I will begin shooting for my next film soon. For now I am finishing the promotion work for Summer 2007. I am a little superstitious so I will talk about it when I am ready to talk. For me, it’s the character and the script, which is of utmost importance. I haven’t planned anything yet. I am comfortable with all kinds of roles, I enjoy acting and love getting into skin of different characters.
What does your close buddy Abhishek Bachchan have to say about your debut?
Abhishek advises me about life and work. He is just like my older brother and a great buddy. He liked my work in Woodstock Villa, he has known me as a child and very proud of me as an actor. Jaya aunty (Jaya Bachchan) said that watching me in Woodstock was like watching Abhishek in his first film. Its very flattering to get such reviews.
Paresh Rawal to star in international film
After whooping it up in Priyadarshan's Mere Baap Pehle Aap, Paresh is now getting ready to do his first international film. "It's called, believe it or not, The Virgin Goat. It's a lovely script. I play a villager who's taking his goat-on-heat for mating. It's entirely the story of my character," says the actor.
It's rumoured that Paresh is asking for an extremely large sum of money. "I'm asking for less than I deserve. I'm not comparing my price to what others get. I'm only charging more as compared with what I used to charge earlier. Boney Kapoor openly told me once that I charge too little. Sometimes I ask for more than I normally would just to avoid off unwanted projects."
The veteran actor and the Mallika Sherawat reportedly got along like a house on fire during the shooting of Sanjay Chhel's Maan Gaye Mughall-e-Azam.
In fact they got along so well that Paresh made the classic statement on the sets, 'Mallika Sherawat is largely responsible for global warming'. Adds the actor, "I did say that. I don't deny it. But only as a joke. I'm constantly passing quips on the sets. And this was one of them. Little did I know that it would be the talk of the town. I've just landed in Mumbai and everyone is asking me about it."

Rhys Ifans unable to handle break-up
British actor Rhys Ifans seems to be so heartbroken after his break up with Sienna Miller that he broke down in the street after drinking away his woes.
Thesun.co.uk reports that Ifans has resorted to heavy drinking ever since Miller ended the relationship. Rhys was seen wearing shades to hide his eyes and was being hugged by a friend comforting him.
Ifans might have further woes since he sold his home to live with Miller. He has been sharing residence with his friend.
"Poor Rhys looked in a state and was knocking the drinks back. His friend was trying his best to cheer him up. But Rhys just couldn't manage to raise a smile," said a witness.

Tiger Woods Makes US Open Playoff
Tiger Woods had an amazing day at the US Open golf tournament yesterday. He managed to putt one of the (arguably) best golf putts of his life on Sunday 15 June 2008.
Here is the video of Tiger making the shot, it's really something very special, because the 8 foot putt really looked virtually.
Tiger is yet another example that man can achieve whatever he sets his mind towards. The US Open play off will now take place on Monday, and it will an 18 hole match.
